Italianate GardenInvolved from beginning, we sited the home and established the finish floor elevation to take advantage of the 8-10' topography and existing trees on this one acre site. The front garden design was challenging in that it was designed around 30 geothermal wells. Broad grass steps transition from an expansive wooded lawn to an intricately formal parterre juxtaposed by a raised lawn panel. Being constructed on solid rock, the rear garden was excavated to appropriate depths and an extensive drain system was installed. A raised terrace was cut into the hillside and 40' pleached magnolias were planted to screen the home behind them. As a focal point, water spills over 8' from an urn into a lower grotto pool to form a dramatic terminus. |
